The countryside just north and west of Brno.
Just north of Brno.
A typical northern Moravian town, this one called Dalecin. Very peaceful and agricultural little towns.
The countryside just north of Brno is quite hilly and picturesque with grain fields dotting the hillsides.
Agriculture is very much a part of the economy in this area.
One hour's drive north and west of Brno is the cross-country ski paradise of Nove Mesto. Over 180 kms of tracked trails and in some cases 6 to 8 tracks wide. It also boasts a small ski-hill which is pictured here.
The tracks run over rolling hills and are very popular with not only those from Brno but also Prague.
Small towns dot the hillside making it tempting to visit local pubs for refreshment and a warm-up.

The trails and terrain make for an enjoyable playground.

The town of Nedvedice, close to the famous Pernstejn Castle. A good example of a beautiful, sleepy town in the Czech countryside.

Skiing at the Ramzova ski area (Click here for a map to Ramzova) is unique because you can take the train right to the skihill from Brno. Total price for the day from Brno (prices are aproximate as I forget exact...): 250 CZK (train) + 500 CZK (1 day ski pass) + 100 CZK (lunch at the restaurant on the hill) TOTAL: 850 CZK!
The powder was deep and the people few.
