A historical world player in the musical industry
A legendary company that made the city famous throughout the world is Petrof, a manufacturer of pianos.
The first piano produced was made directly by the company founder, Antonin Petrof. It was built in the Temple of the Holy Ghost in the year 1864.
Originally a small family business in the late 19th and 20th century it then expanded rapidly in growth. In 1934 the company was awarded at the World Exhibition in Brussels a gold medal. The Petrof factory at that time employed about four hundred people.
Current PETROF, spol. Ltd., situated on a manufacturing area of roughly 130,000 m², employs roughly 400. Its pianos are sold to Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
