As of December 2004, the rules for the foreign police have been changed regarding the acceptance of home country criminal records issued by an embassy.
Previously, it was possible for some citizens, such as Canadians, to get a criminal record from their embassy within three days which would satisfy the requirement for a home country criminal record. Otherwise, the process could take over two months and require fingerprints which are verified by the home country’s police department. This acceptance had been a real saver in terms of cost and bureaucratic headaches.
In some cases it is still possible; however, often the foreign police are not aware of agreements that may be in place between certain countries and the Czech government. It is best to check with your embassy to see if any such arrangements are in place.
