1. Average wage rises slightly in Q2
(http://praguemonitor.com/2009/09/02/average-wage-rises-slightly-q2)

High-level overview of article:
The average wage rose by mere 2-4% in the second quarter of this year, analysts have told ČTK in a poll.

Our take:
We are surprised that this was reported in a negative way. With all the pressure on companies and layoffs/pay freezes we think a growth of wages after inflation of any size is good news.

2. Czechs consider the economic situation of their country as bad
(http://www.e15.cz/domaci/ekonomika/eurobarometr-cesi-povazuji-hospodarskou-situaci-sve-zeme-za-spatnou)

High-level overview of article:
Four-fifths of Czechs consider the current economic situation in the country as poor and only 17 percent think that next year will improve. This is according to the Eurobarometer survey, which took place in the second half of June.

Our take:
The mentality of Czechs in general can be toward the negative, “can’t be done” side so this report does not surprise us. But they are very resourceful and hard workers so we expect the economy will actually fair much better than these expectations.
