1. Analysts: Czech inflation in Sept same as year ago
(http://praguemonitor.com/2009/10/09/analysts-czech-inflation-sept-same-year-ago)

High-level overview of article:
The prices of consumer goods in the Czech republic fell by 0.4 percent month-on-month in September, reaching the same level as a year ago, according to estimates of analysts polled by CTK Thursday.

Our take:
This is very good news that we are not entering negative territory as the EU first did in June of this year. However, as the article indicates this could happen next month due to decreases in gas prices. Interest rates should stay stable which is good for those renewing mortgage loans.

2. Unemployment in ČR grows to 8.6% in Sept
(http://praguemonitor.com/2009/10/09/unemployment-%C4%8Dr-grows-86-sept)

High-level overview of article:
Unemployment in the Czech Republic grew to 8.6 percent in September from August’s 8.5 percent and the total number of unemployed grew by 7,061 against August and by 186,254 against September 2008 – to 500,812 people, the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry announced Thursday.

Our take:
A very small increase and outlook is much brighter than that proposed by analysts two or three months ago. The statistics based on region are interesting. If you currently own property or are thinking of investing, it is a good way to check the health of the areas which will also determine rent potential.

3. Foreign trade posts CZK 10.6bn surplus in August
(http://www.financninoviny.cz/zpravy/zahranicni-obchod-v-srpnu-skoncil-v-prebytku-10-6-miliardy-kc/401372)

High-level overview of article:
The Czech Republic posted a foreign trade surplus of CZK 10.6 billion in August, a year-on-year improvement of CZK 9.1 billion, the Czech Statistical Office said.

Our take:
Very positive numbers and shows that the economies of the biggest importers of Czech goods, primarily Germany and also other EU countries, is stabilizing.
