Property Prices in Prague and Czech Republic from 2008 to 2012

Czech Point 101 July 22, 2014 @ 2:50PM

An article which looked at the property price numbers from the CSU (Český statistický úřad or in English Czech Statistical Office) had some surprising statistics. I had thought that prices had fallen much more from 2008 to 2010 than the statistics show.

The first chart in the article gives the average purchase price of flats from 2008 to 2010. It demonstrates that overall the prices fell only 9%, which was very surprising for me. This information is based on the tax valuations done for the purpose of property tax assessment.

House and home prices were shown to have actually increased by 7% through this crisis period.
