Hradec Kralové is expecting the biggest building investment it has seen in the last 20 years.
The Charles University plans the new buildings in an area close to the University Hospital. The project will be built on city land with an area of 75,000 square meters. The construction will totally change the appearance of the area.
The new campus represents a huge investment for the city.
The new campus would serve particularly students, doctors and staff of the hospital. The aim of the project is to build a top quality research and training centre for the medical and pharmaceutical faculties of the Charles University.
The first phase of construction should be completed in 2014.
The costs are largely borne by the European Union and are expected to reach about 2.5 billion CZK after completion of the project.
