I am regularly written by non-Czech citizens, who, after enjoying an enchanting vacation in Czech Republic’s country-side, explore the idea of relocating.
As I always explain to my wife, the grass is always greener when you are on holidays. The reality of life can be different when you actually live in the location that you previously only vacationed in. Day-to-day life rarely involves enjoying a leisurely cappuccino in the morning sun and then heading off for a day playing with your kids. Anyway, I digress…
Once of the first ideas for making a living which comes to the mind of these would-be Czech immigrants is that of operating a guest house or pension.
The problem with this idea is that the Czech countryside is full of existing ones, and they are really struggling.
When my wife and I have gone to guest houses in the country-side we have often marveled at the incredibly cheap prices being offered and wonder how they are making any money. Well, it turns out that they aren’t making money.
In order for someone to succeed at a plan like this they would really need to have a unique experience to offer, be a marketing genius and be willing to sacrifice their lives for a few years. In the end the ‘success’ achieved would probably be not more than a living.
But hey, you’d be living in the peaceful Czech countryside…

I am dreaming about a small house with a garden in the Czech Republic, not far from Vienna (max. 1.5 hours driving distance). I hope to find something interesting. Maybe a plot of land to build small wooden house. Hope it is possible… 🙂
Hi Vladimir, I think you should for sure be able to find something. You can search on http://www.sreality.cz (properties for sale by agents) or http://www.bezrealitky.cz (property for sale direct by owners). Nathan
